Mushroom meatballs with oatmeal

Mushroom meatballs with oatmeal

Mushroom season has arrived, so don't hesitate! Take a trip to nature with your family and search under the trees and in the meadow... A full basket of mushrooms will be a reward for every good seeker and for all gourmets who can't resist eating raw or dried mushrooms. Bake excellent mushroom meatballs for your loved ones and dry mushrooms for your stock - you will appreciate them, for example, in December when cooking Christmas cabbage.

You can dry mushrooms easily and quickly on the Orava SU-105 fruit, vegetable, mushroom and herb dryer.

And in the spirit of a healthy lifestyle, fry meatballs healthier - with only a minimum of fat in the Orava Airy-4 hot air fryer.

Portions: 4

Preparation and baking time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:  2 cups of oatmeal, 1 cup of water, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons of dried mushrooms, 6 tablespoons of breadcrumbs.

How to do it:

  1. For cooking, use mushrooms that you dry and mix with salt. This is how you prepare a semi-finished product, the so-called mushroom seasoning, which you can use in addition to the dish to prepare mushroom sauce, in soups and under meat.
  2. Mix the oatmeal with a mixture of dried mushrooms and salt. If you want, you can also add your favourite spices, finely chopped onion or garlic to the mixture, but this is not a requirement. Pour hot water over the mixture and let it stand for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Add eggs to the softened mixture, mix and add breadcrumbs as needed. Form small meatballs, coat the outside in breadcrumbs and fry in a hot air fryer.
  4. Serve with potatoes (boiled, roasted) and any vegetable salad. It goes well with tartar sauce, tzatziki or skyr mixed with ketchup.
