How to properly organize the contents of the refrigerator? Where do cheeses belong and where, for example, do vegetables belong?

The arrangement of the food in the refrigerator has a great influence on the freshness of the food, its satisfactory quality and energy saving.

We have prepared for you a detailed guide for the proper arrangement of individual types of food and other contents in your refrigerator, including tips for its maintenance.

How are the shelves in the refrigerator different?

The upper shelves, as the least cold place, are suitable for placing ready meals such as soups, sauces or, for example, cooked pasta. We can also store all kinds of drinks here, for example mineral water or fruit juices. In general, food that does not require too low a temperature, or products such as marmalade, mustard or ketchup, are placed in the upper shelves.

The middle shelves are suitable for storing dairy products such as yoghurts, cheeses or butter, but also eggs - if they don't have a dedicated space in the fridge door, of course. The bottom shelves are the coldest place in the refrigerator and are therefore ideal for placing raw meat, fish and cured meats. These foods should be sealed in airtight containers to prevent contamination of other foods.

The correct layout and efficient design of the individual compartments is characteristic of the Orava RGO-381 X combined refrigerator. The cooling part with a volume of 230 liters is divided by three shelves made of tempered glass, which complement the other three compartments on the side of the door. In the lower part you will find a large drawer for fruits and vegetables equipped with Humidity Controlled Crisper technology for humidity regulation. Ideal humidity is ensured by special treatment of channels for air flow, which help to keep food fresh longer.

What goes in the drawers and what goes in the door?

Drawers are a space with higher humidity - they are ideal for storing fresh fruit and vegetables. Some vegetables, such as salads or fresh herbs, are better wrapped in a damp cloth or special waxed cloths to keep them fresh longer. Fruits

separate from vegetables, because fruits, especially apples and bananas, produce ethylene, a substance that accelerates ripening and spoilage.

The door is the warmest part of the entire refrigerator, which makes it a place for storing spices, sauces, but also seasonings, such as mustard, or packaged drinks. On the other hand, the shelves in the door are not suitable for storing dairy products such as milk or butter, because they would often be exposed to temperature changes in the door.

The refrigerator door, on the other hand, is an ideal place for the Orava WF-38 water filter kettle. The filter kettle is a perfect source of clean and high-quality water, also suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their offspring. Filtered water has an excellent taste and is suitable for both drinking and cooking. The kettle can hold 3.8 litres of water, has a four-stage filter technology and a manual calendar that notifies the user when the filter is about to be replaced. The narrow shape allows the kettle to be easily inserted into the refrigerator door.

Practical tips

Are you bothered by the smell of the refrigerator? Place smell traps with activated carbon in it, which absorb smell and prevent them from spreading. A homemade alternative can be a bowl with baking soda or coffee grounds.

Don't forget that the food should cool down completely, ideally to room temperature, before putting it in the fridge. If you put warm food in the refrigerator, energy consumption increases because the refrigerator has to cool more. In addition, the temperature inside the refrigerator may also increase, which will negatively affect other foods. Do not leave cooled food exposed to room temperature for more than two hours due to the risk of bacterial growth.

Store fatty products in tight containers, this will prevent the spread of smells and further contamination of stored food. Store vegetables in drawers with higher humidity, but do not overfill them so that the vegetables can "breathe". A special plastic box is ideal for cheeses, maintaining proper humidity. Pastry does not belong in the refrigerator, because it hardens faster. The exception is when you want to keep the pastry for later, but then store it wrapped in a bag.

Clean the refrigerator at least once a month, and if it is not equipped with the No Frost function, let it completely defrost once every six months. Throw away food regularly after the expiration date to prevent the spread of dangerous bacteria.
